Countertop Pop Up Electrical Outlet With USB Charging And Metal Back Box

The Lew Electric PUFP-CT-SS-AC-MB is a power outlet and USB charging pop up box designed to be hidden in your kitchen countertop, or any location that might encounter water. When in the closed position the top sits just above the counter, creating a sleek and attractive look in your kitchen. When you need access to power and charging, simply press the button and the outlet flips up so you can plug in. The top is real stainless steel and matches stainless steel appliances and fixtures.

Meets NEC Electrical Code 2023 406.5E for Installation in Countertops

The pop up meets 2017, 2020, and 2023 NEC 406.5E for kitchen countertop installations in the USA and Canada. The outlet has tamper-proof plugs and is UL 498 listed. The pop up has passed the UL 498 half gallon spill test, as well as endurance, mechanical load, dielectric voltage, and temperature tests. There is also a gasket under the bezel to keep liquids from entering the sides between the countertop and the base of the pop up.

Easy to Install Hardwired Application with a Shallow Depth

The pop up only needs 2.25” of space under a 3cm countertop, and requires a 4 1/16” x 4 1/16” hole to be cut to install. Included is a metal back box that attaches to the underside of your countertop with glue for stone, or screws for wood. The outlet does not have a power cord, simply hardwire your power into the outlet by first running it through the knockouts in the rear of the back box. The outlet needs to be wired to a GFCI circuit (typically done at the panel with a GFCI breaker), or tapped off of a GFCI outlet. Then if the outlet recognizes an unsafe interruption in the current, it will automatically shut off power to the outlet.

Tamper-Proof Power and USB Charging Outlet

The pop up provides both a USB-A charging port, and a USB-C charging port. There is a smart chip inside the outlet making the USB intelligent charging ports. The ports automatically adapt to the device being plugged in, and send the maximum amount of power the device can handle, ensuring it won’t be over-charged.

The USB-A charging port is Quick Charge (QC) 3.0 rated and can provide up to 18 Watts of fast charging power. 

The USB-C charging port is QC 3.0 and Power Deliver (PD 2.0) rated, it can charge devices at an incredibly fast rate, up to 20 Watts. The PD 2.0 not only allows users to charge phones and tablets, but also laptops.

The outlet is 20 Amp rated, allowing the most power hungry small appliances to be plugged in. The plugs are tamper resistant (TR) meeting code, and offer the peace of mind knowing that children can’t put small objects into the sockets and electrocute themselves. The 20A outlet is backwards compatible with 15A plugs, meaning that both 15A plugs and 20A plugs, can be plugged into the outlet. 

Eliminate Dangerous Cords Hanging Over Your Island

A pop up outlet centrally located in your counter adds convenience to provide power and charging where you need it most. You no longer have to plug into the side of your island, and run the cord over the counter and hope it reaches to the middle of your island. Not having draping cords hanging over the side of the counter removes a huge risk factor.  It can be easy for children to catch the cord with their arm, creating a tripping hazard, or cause whatever appliance is on the counter to fall on them. Pop up outlets provide a functional, yet beautiful look in your countertop.

The pop up is perfect for kitchens or any location that requires recessed power such as pantries, airports, restaurants, bars, and hotels. Use the pop up to power small appliances such as coffee makers, blenders, toaster ovens, and warming trays. It can also be used for charging mobile devices such as tablets and phones via the two USB charging ports. The pop up can be installed in granite, quartz, wood, laminate, concrete, or any surface up to 2″ thick that you can cut the required 4 1/16” x 4 1/16” hole.
